What You Should Know

You are a Nurse
You have spent years in study and training. you are constantly being tested ... under stressful conditions, with difficult patients and emergency situations. Under such circumstances, things sometimes go wrong. Your response was inadequate, incorrect or just a bit slow ... or your response was absolutely correct, but the result was still less than the perfection that the patient or patient's family expected ... or you are added to a lawsuit simply because you were present at the time of the incident.

You are Protected
Our professional liability insurance program protects you against claims from real or alleged negligence resulting from your acts or omissions in your practice of nursing. It also protects you if someone you supervise commits an error and you are named in a suit.

Your Future is Protected
Our program uses an "occurrence" form, which is the broadest coverage available. You are protected at any future date even though your policy may not be in effect at that time - provided that your policy was in effect when the incident for which you are being sued occurred. So you have protection now AND in the future ... even after the insurance expires, or you retire, or change jobs.

You are Specialized
And our program is as specialized as you are ... whether you are a LVN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner ... employed or self-employed. You will notice that we have special low rates for new registered graduate nurses. In addition, we have part-time rates with a 50% credit for employed labor and delivery nurses, and most nurse practitioners.

You Have a Choice
You can select one of two coverage limit plans ... up to $200,000 per incident and $600,000 annual aggregate.

If You are Employed
You cannot rely on your employer's insurance. It is designed primarily to cover your employer. There may be gaps in that policy ... or a suit may be filed after you have left their employment.

If You are Self-Employed
You are responsible for your own activities, and professional liability insurance becomes even more important.

You are Covered
For malpractice ... an act or omission in the furnishing of professional services in the practice of nursing including volunteer work. The coverage includes an expanded definition of Bodily Injury to include mental anguish and emotional distress.
